T-shirt TES School Fundraiser

Treutlen County Elementary School is conducting a school wide fundraiser. The money raised will be used to purchase new playground equipment. All students will be participating in the sale, so please see any Elementary School students to purchase your T-shirt. They will be collecting your name, telephone number, and sizes needed. The shirts come in sizes: YXS-5XL. The price for the T-shirt is $15.00. The deadline for purchasing a shirt is December 15, so please see a student and show your Treutlen PRIDE!

2017 Veterans Day Part 2 2017 TES Veterans Day Program Part 2

On November 10th, Treutlen County Elementary School conducted their annual Veterans Day program. The program is dedicated to honoring the people who have served our country in the military. The program was packed with music performed by the students and staff. The gust speaker was Sheriff Tommy Corbin. We would like to thank all our veterans for their service. School To Farm Visit Farm to School Visitors

Treutlen County Schools had visitors on Monday Nov 6th including State representatives, state directors, district superintendents and members of the Georgia Department of Agriculture.  They came to Treutlen County School System to see the Farm To school Program in action. The visitors were greeted by Madison Nobles and Victoria Thornton. Next they toured the cold frame hoop house to see the drip irrigation. The cold frame hoop house is maintained by the students in the Agriculture Program. The demonstration was led by Dusty Meeks, Chase Watts and Andrew Bridges. Next they toured the 4th grade gardens and were given a demo on watering and maintaining gardens, led by Cloey Hutcheson, Ches Collins, and Jaquise Lovett.

After a meeting, they were served lunch in the cafeteria featuring locally grown Bland Farms sweet potatoes.

Jalapenos Hot Jalapenos

Mrs. Edge's class harvesting jalapenos from the School Garden. The gardens are part fo the school nutrition program. They are used to help introduce students to the entire process of growing vegetables and fruits.

book fair Saddle Up and Read!

It is the Book Fair and it is coming to the Treutlen County Middle/High School. Yes, it is that time of year when parents, students and friends are invited to the Annual Fall Middle/High Book Fair. The Book Fair will begin on Monday, September 4th and will close on Friday, September 8th. The Book Fair will open each day at 7:45 and close at 3:00.  The Book Fair will also be open on Thursday evening, September 7th for the Annual Title 1 Meeting.  Please come out and support our Media Center.

Mrs. Martin and Mrs. Spivey's 5th grade students had a great time in Science this week. They studied the scientific method and how to correctly record data. They investigated if weight affected time when dropping parachutes. They recorded results and applied the scientific method to their experiment.

The Annual Title 1 Meeting will be held on September 7 at 5:30PM. The meeting will take place in the school cafeteria. The details and plans for the program will be discussed.  Please make plans to attend.

Solar Solar Eclipse Closure

The Treutlen County School System will release all students at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, August 21st.  This is due to the solar eclipse.  The solar eclipse will affect our area between approximately 1:10 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.  Please remind your students of the potential dangers that can occur by looking directly at the sun without appropriate eye protection during a solar eclipse.

The Treutlen County School System will be conducting Open House on August 1st. The Open House will take place from 4:00 - 6:00 PM. This will be a great opportunity for students, parents and guardians to meet the staff and tour the building. Please make plans to attend.

Viking Baseball Vikings Advance to the Round of 16

Due to weather concerns, the Vikings’ state baseball playoff games have been changed from this Thursday to Wednesday. The Treutlen County Vikings will travel to Donalsonville to take on the Seminole County Indians. This will be a best of 3 game series. On Wednesday there will be a double-header. The first game will start at 2:00, with the second game being played about 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first. If there is a need for a third game, it will be played on Friday at 4:00. Come out and support the Vikings.

Spring Holidays Spring Holidays

The Treutlen County School system will be observing Spring Holidays the week of April 10-14. Students will be released at the normal time on Friday, April the 7th. Students will return on April the 17th. We hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday. We look forward to seeing everyone back on the 17th.

GA Milestones Test Schedule Georgia Milestones Testing begins April 19th

Beginning on Wednesday, April 19, the students of the Treutlen County School system will begin taking the Georgia Milestones Tests. Georgia Milestones measures how well students have learned the knowledge and skills outlined in the state-adopted content standards in English Language Arts, mathematics, science, and social studies.  

 

Students in grades 3 through 8 take an end-of-grade assessment in English Language Arts and mathematics while students in grades 5 and 8 are also assessed in science and social studies. High school students take an end-of-course assessment for each of the ten courses designated by the State Board of Education. The 10 courses for high school students are 

 

  • English Language Arts
    • Ninth Grade Literature and Composition
    • American Literature and Composition
  • Mathematics
    • Algebra I or Coordinate Algebra
    • Geometry or Analytic Geometry
  • Science
    • Biology
    • Physical Science​​
  • ​​Social Studies

School Logo Parent Workshop

On Thursday, March the 9th, the Treutlen County Middle High School will be conducting a Parent Workshop.  The workshop will be held from 5:30 to 7:00 pm  at the school.  The purpose of this parent workshop is geared to helping parents understand GA Milestones Assessment System- EOC and EOG assessments.  Learn about preparing for college- FAFSA, scholarships, Move on When Ready, etc.  Parents will also receive updates regarding new exciting programs offered at TMHS.

Students eat Dragon Fruit Students Eat New Foods

Treutlen County Elementary School students tried a new food this week. They are Dragon Fruit as part of the USDA Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program. This program encourages students to try new foods. Fruits and vegetables are given to students to try.

Surveys Your Opinion Matters

A growing body of research indicates that schools with positive school climate ratings have better test scores and higher graduation rates.  School climate refers to the quality and character of school life.  The first step to improving school climate is to measure and analyze it with a school climate survey instrument.  We would like for every Parent and Staff member to complete the 2017 Georgia School Health Climate Survey.
