How to Mine Information From the Internet in a Productive Manner Written by Scott Heaton Minimize

Are you bored with vendors trying to sell you things when you are trying to carry out academic research? Are you an expert or do you want to be an expert in electronic information resources? If so, you can help Treutlen County Schools develop a systematic approach to mining reliable and valid academic information by way of the Internet. The current locally evaluated research information resources that are available to students by way of the Internet are listed below.

By no means is the list above all inclusive or meant to be; however, these resources contain some of the most reliable and valid information available on the Internet. If you know of a web site you think meets Treutlen's learning standards, please send it to me at sheaton@treutlen.net. I will review the website and if appropriate, will test it with a few teachers and then with students. If teachers approve on the site and it passes all the testing and meets the learning standards we use in Treutlen County Schools, we will post it here for everyone to use. If you want credit for mining the site, say so in your email, and I will note the sender as the source of the link. Have fun with this; everyone has a favorite Internet database or web site he or she finds useful. Since there are more web sites than can be evaluated or counted, we really need the help.
